Robbie Riley is originally from Santa Maria, CA and moved to San Diego to attend UC San Diego where he graduated with a degree in Political Science, International Relations. He began his career in politics in 2014 by working for former San Diego City Councilman Carl DeMaio in his first congressional campaign in 2014. He then went to work for Councilman John McCann in Chula Vista and worked his way up to become his Chief of Staff.
Wanting to pursue a new political endeavor, Robbie helped lead the statewide grassroots campaign to repeal the car and gas tax increases in California by working as the Projects Director at Reform California. Robbie was part of the team that successfully recalled the California state senator who cast the deciding vote for the car and gas tax increase, put the car and the gas tax repeal initiative on the 2018 ballot, and blocked the water tax increase that year. In 2018, Robbie was recognized for his work as a taxpayer advocate by the Republican Party of San Diego County by receiving the “40 under 40 Award”.
